I'm feeling like I've made a mistake. I've been miserable ever since I left the hospital Wednesday. I can't keep anything down in having the worst gas pains in my chest I constantly feel like I'm going to puke. I sleep with the trash can next to me because I am always so nauseous. It hurts so bad to get in and out of bed that I usually just lay on the couch. I can't even hold my baby anymore because he weighs too much. I wish there was a reset button, I'm so sick of waking up miserable. I feel like this was the biggest mistake.

Even drinking Water makes me sick to my stomach! And I'm supposed to be drinking so many ounces a day? Not happening

Hi Britt,

I was sleeved Monday, but I didn't have too many issues handling Water. However I really didn't give Water too much of a chance to handle me. Try squeezing some lemons or limes in your water. It definitely goes down quicker if not smoother.

As far as the gas, you have to kick that couch to the curb. Walk walk walk!! Good luck.

Jeremy

Use a heating pad for the gas. Also walking helps. Crystal light is good to soften the Water. I drank minute maid lemonade light which my nut recommended. It saved me. I slept w a pillow on my side to ease the pain but that part just takes time. This is the worst if it. You will get through it.

I went through the same thing in my first week. Don't give up and know that each day it will get better. Do your best with hydration as it is the most important thing right now. Hot tea was the easiest for me to get down (I still count on it for soothing my pouch first thing every morning). Harney & Sons make a great variety of herbal and caffeine free teas and I order it online ( since way before being sleeved!).

I still have to work hard getting all the liquids and enough Protein in, even at almost 7 weeks out. Every day is a new opportunity to improve and every day I manage a little more. You will get there, too, don't doubt it ~ I remember how it was for me in the beginning and am glad that I feel so good now and got through the roughest part.

I have lost about 30 lbs and it really shows, which is the best incentive! Just imagine holding your baby one day very soon and feeling on top of the world :)

Hang in there, BrittNicole <3

I don't have much to add to the great advice already given above. I was sleeved on 6/6 and suffered with extreme nausea, and lots of pain when drinking. I was eating 5-6 sugar-free Popsicles per day in the beginning, because that's the only "liquid" I could tolerate drinking. Now I find that drinking while walking helps a lot with the nausea, but things still hurt a little bit when going down. I get weird chest and stomach pains, and I always feel like I need to burp.

I had a crying fit last night after dropping the contents of my purse all over the floor and not being able to pick everything up, so I completely understand where you're coming from. Please believe me, it DOES get better!!! I know you feel horrible right now, because I've felt exactly like you do, but the pain isn't going to last forever. You'll be back to holding your baby before you know it. Keep reminding yourself that you're doing all of this to be healthier and live a long life for him. :)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
