SuzyB 182 Posted June 14, 2013 I have started the process. I know my insurance Anthem *** Colorado covers it as a "surgical procedure" I do not know the hoops I have to go thru to be approved. I am concerned about the 6 months supervised diet. I typically can stick to a diet for a while and lose some weight but it always comes back and then some. Do I have to diet and fail to get the approval? Or do I have to show I can be compliant with new eating habits? Thanks Suzy
NewAshes 232 Posted June 14, 2013 Just try and stick to it the best you can. You don't HAVE to follow it perfectly and a lot of people don't buy it's to your benefit to try and lose some pounds to further shrink your liver. I to have a 6 month required diet and my surgeon would like me to try and lose 10%(20 pounds) by the end of my 6 months.
Chantel 67 Posted June 14, 2013 My insurance did not require a supervised diet. I would suggest that you call your insurance and ask them for the specific requirements of your plan. I did this and they were very helpful. They were even able to point me to a place on their website where it was all documented in writing.
