I haven't had one yet and I'm 3 months out. Talk with your surgeon. I believe alcohol can be irritating to a new sleeve.

I hear you can't have alcohol till you're quite a bit out because it will irritate the sleeve

My sleeve paper work says "no alcohol until 1 month post op"... I've sipped on a glass of wine & I was fine... Good luck

Wow. I believe my doctor is recommending a year without alcohol. I think part of the reason is to maximize weight loss, though. Very interesting to hear what others are being advised. Thanks.

I'm almost 8 weeks out and I had my first glass of wine about two weeks ago. No problems. Since then, I've drank twice more. One night I had two small glasses (got pretty tipsy off that) and then one glass another night. I've just been drinking Riesling or moscata wines. All went down fine and were quite tasty.

I have drank vodka and orange with no problems at 4 weeks post op. Just stay away from the carbonated drinks.< /p>

I don't recommend drinking too much though as you will get drunk quicker and dehydrated quicker.

Just ensure you don't go crazy and binge!

Follow your surgeon's advice. He or she has pretty much probably seen it all. With that said, I am 8-9 months out and drink red wine and my surgeon approves of it in moderation.

I think the first time I drank wine was maybe 3 months? But honestly can't remember....definitely within 3 months though. I'm 5.5 months out now and have had a glass twice this week.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
