silry 0 Posted February 22, 2007 greetings from dr. oritz's clinic! i was BANDED a few hours ago. i'm bored of doing laps in my sexy gown and paper booties, so i thought i'd make use of the free internet. i made it! alive and well! not too pleased with the led balloon chilling in my belly or the shoulder pain, but aside from that, so far so good. now, if you'll excuse me, there is a caprisun with my name on it waiting for me back in my room. cchristys 0 Posted February 22, 2007 Hey Y'all! Okay, I'm down 9!! (banded on Feb 13, 2007) Whooo hooo!! So, I called the clinic today to check in, and they asked me if I was working out yet. I told them that I had been walking but he wanted to know if I was using weights yet. I said, "No, because the nurse told me not to lift anything over 20 lbs for a couple of weeks after surgery. I stated that it's only been 1 1/2 weeks. He then asked who told me that. I said, "Well, I was told that while I was still a little out of it." He said that I should start really using weights now. Okay, I'm not ready. I feel like I could herniate my wounds if I did this too soon. Mercy!! I've read some journals where the patient was told not to work out until completely healed. What do y'all think. I think walking is enough right now and then, when I'm healed to add the rest. I mean, I don't feel any pain now..why complicate things. LOL!! I was banded on Feb. 13th, and had my one-week post op appt. According my doctors scale, I've lost 15 pounds this week, and a total of 21 pounds since Feb. 8th. I would like to think you all for your support and encouragement during the rough first couple of days. Thanks Again, Ashley
cabux 0 Posted February 22, 2007 That is great, I know you are pleased. :clap2: Having a lower BMI I hope I wont have too much trouble losing. The future is scary!:paranoid But together we will all be hopeful, especially with results like you have had. Take care Cheryl
oldgiesser 0 Posted February 22, 2007 Been telling myself all day, that next week at this time, I will be on some GOOD DRUGS!!!! Trying not to get too nervous yet, but its getting harder....glad to hear all are doing well.... It is normal to be excited about the day getting close but to start worrying and being scared. I was the same way and worried about my age being double that of most on the forum and worried how fast I would rebound after surgery. The first three days were tough but it got better every day after that. You too will be fine in no time after surgery Good Luck !! Terry

I think it all depends on who you talk to. My doctor recommended I wait 4 weeks to workouts (more than walking). I play tennis several times a week, and it is killing me to not be out there, but I am following doctor's orders. Now, being a nurse, my nursing advice would be to try it if you feel up to it and if once you get started you are hurting or don't think it is the right thing to be doing, then STOP! Follow your gut, you know your body and limitations, the doctor doesn't!!!
