Melixxa 125 Posted June 16, 2013 Rollergirl - What about tipping? What is standard tipping? Who all do I tip? And when? Good question!
rollargirl 210 Posted June 16, 2013 Haha I was born in Toronto but have lived in Nz for 20 years - where we don't tip! So don't quote me but: I tipped the bell boys 2 for heling w bags and would round up $2 on a short cab ride ... Got my hair done and tipped $4 ... When u eat out u leave %12 of the total bill for your meal etc .... When u change your money make sure u get lots of $1 & $2 dollar notes
Olivia23 68 Posted June 16, 2013 Can we not tip with American money?
fletcherette 203 Posted June 16, 2013 Can we not tip with American money? You can, I did
Melixxa 125 Posted June 16, 2013 I read on trip advisor that you shouldn't tip with US coins, though, because they can't be used in Mexico, even at the banks. Here's the guide I was looking at: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g150768-s606/Mexico:Tipping.And.Etiquette.html
Olivia23 68 Posted June 16, 2013 Well that's all I have. Did anyone else tip with American money?
srs82781 83 Posted June 16, 2013 Oh I tipped everyone with American money. They actually appreciate it because the US dollar is so good compared to the peso. I had asked my coordinator and the hotel about it. I tipped trips back and forth to airport $5, bell hop $2 each time, drive back and forth from hospital $2, and room service $2. 1 KittyLouSou reacted to this
srs82781 83 Posted June 16, 2013 I think that being in Tijuana they are so close to the border that US currency is easy for them to exchange. In other areas maybe it is an issue for them to use it.
Melixxa 125 Posted June 16, 2013 It's only US coin that's a problem, apparently.
Olivia23 68 Posted June 16, 2013 Do you mean US coins only or coins and cash?
Melixxa 125 Posted June 16, 2013 Just US coins. US bills are ok, from what I read.
Olivia23 68 Posted June 16, 2013 Oh okay. That's what I planned on using was cash only.
