no weight loss after initial liquid diet

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on march 4th and lost 11 pounds 1 week post surgery. Since then I have only lost 3lbs. I follow my diet and get as much Water as I can. The only thing is that I am NOT getting the 70 80 grams of Protein that I should be getting a day. The only protein I'm getting is from my food I am NOT taking any Protein Drinks because they seem to make me very sick and I'm not sure if this is contributing to the lack of weight loss. Has anyone else had any of these types of problems?

I talk to my nutritionist and she said everything that I was doing was right. They did lab work to see if it is a thyroid problem. I'm hoping that that may be the issue because I don't understand why I'm not losing the weight. Very discouraging I'm getting very depressed with it but I'm trying to stay positive and I've been trying to do more exercise.

Also my pre-op way was 207 I didn't have time to go on a pre op diet because of how fast my surgery was done because I had a lap band before I was sleeved.

Are you getting enough calories per day. Could your body be in starvation mode?

Have you lost inches?

Just a few thoughts. Sorry you are having a rough time. :(

Im getting enough calories. It usually ranges between 7-800 a day. My thoughts is the lack of Protein. Im trying different samples of Protein Shakes now to see what doesnt make me sick. Also I have lost very little inches. All my clothes still fit the same. Ugh.....frustrating!

Im 5'4" and weigh 191 now. I started at 207. I didnt get the opportunity to loose any weight pre-op because im a bander to a sleeve and my surgery date happened so fast. My goal weight is to get to 140.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
