buckeyefan1985 29 Posted June 14, 2013 There are so many Protein Drink choices how do I know which ones to buy. Everyone talks about Isopur and Unjury, but are there less expensive choices? What should I look for when I go to buy? Obviously the Protein amount is one thing I should look at, but what else? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. GoldyGirl 186 Posted June 14, 2013 MyMMymm My Surgeon said to only Drink Medical Grade Protein. They are a little more expensive but your Body will absorb them much better and you will not need to drink as much. So if using Medical grade protein I can aim for the lower end of 60 to75 grams a day. I have done well and NO Hair loss either…. My Surgeon said to only Drink Medical Grade Protein. You want the highest protein, lowest sugars and carbs possible. Also, it has to taste good to you or you won't keep drinking it. Personally, I've found that I like most brands in chocolate but hate all vanilla regardless of brand. Also, there are Protein shakes that taste better with milk than Water and vice versa. Good starting point: http://bjsbariatrics.com/product/synSamplePack.html Protein Shakes tend to be a little pricey but cheap is going to taste cheap, just my opinion. prayergirl 55 Posted June 14, 2013 My Registered Dietician said the numbers to look for are at least 25g of Protein, 5g or less sugar and 3g or less total fat. I just use Pure Protein, both vanilla cream and chocolate. They have them at Sam's club or costco, but I actually found them cheaper at Ralphs grocery store ($19 vs $24). Hope this helps.
