losingit2013 48 Posted June 14, 2013 When is it comfortable to sleep on your side again? I'm 4 days post-op. I had hernia repair also. 1 NtvTxn reacted to this
Guest Posted June 14, 2013 A body pillow helps. I was on my side day 3 or 4.

karenb4729 309 Posted June 14, 2013 I think it was almost 3 weeks for me. But, I'm older and am a baby when it comes to pain. I slept on the couch for a month and the first 3 weeks was in an almost sitting position.

MissTiffany203 31 Posted June 15, 2013 I am a side sleeper to the fullest!!! The 1st night in the hospital ... I fell asleep on my back.. & I woke up on my side!!! Lol it was comfortable. So after that.. I would fall asleep with a pillow over my tummy on my side so whenever you feel ready!
MissTiffany203 31 Posted June 15, 2013 Btw, I wasn't really in pain either so that might be why? Idk 1 ladylaura reacted to this
ShelPrice 70 Posted June 15, 2013 I was able to sleep on my side right away. I put a big pillow behind my back and one between my knees so I was well supported. Shel in Kansas<br />Sleeved 5/21/

NtvTxn 1,262 Posted June 17, 2013 When is it comfortable to sleep on your side again? I'm 4 days post-op. I had hernia repair also. I can ONLY sleep on my side and it is uncomfortable to turn over after surgery. I only took pain meds after discharge because of this!!! Anyway, I got a "flat as a fritter" pillow, nice and soft......to put under my tummy when I was on my side. It was a life saver!!
ShelPrice 70 Posted June 30, 2013 I was able to sleep onmyside right away using a method a physical therapist taught me for hip pain. Get a big, solid pillow and place it firmly behind you back as you lay on your side. Roll slightly back into the pillow so it's supporting you. Also, but another pillow between you knees to reduce stress on your hips and back. It works for me. Hope this is helpful.
