Hi my name is Paamie and I live in Nyc. I had my surgery May 20th. I am down 30lbs, but I can not keep the Protein Shakes down at all. I have bought so many and nothing will stay down the the Protein shakes in them. I am nauseated every morning. My biggest fear is when I return to work next week how am I going to handle this?

I was the same way for a couple of weeks. I drank a lot of Water and Powerade. I found a Protein Shake called Muscle Milk (premade) and kept it VERY cold. It helped quite a bit. Hope this helps.

The Muscle Milk is for the Protein. Mine has 7 grams of fat, 30 grams of protein, 2 grams of sugar and 200 calories per serving. My surgeon and dietician highly recommend it.

I too had issues with Protein shakes and reflux and nausea. I found the muscle milk RTDs and they have been a life saver. I like the chocolate flavor very cold and it does not make me nauseous.

Some people get lactose intolerant. Check the ingredients and see if there is any milk. I had a problem with diarrhea very time I drank a shake. I started taking LacTaid and it helped. I don't have the problem any more-3 mos post op.

Muscle milk is lactose free.

Muscle milk claims to be milk and lactose free on the front of their package, however the whey Protein that muscle milk is made from comes from milk protein which if you are lactose intolerant you can not digest! I am lactose intolerant and made the huge mistake of believing when it said contains no milk and is lactose free without reading the actual label. I drank a whole bottle of it and was violently ill the next day from it! Do NOT drink this if you are lactose intolerant!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
