hw much to u lose ur first month

Recommended Posts

I'm five weeks post op and I lost twenty-five pounds the first few weeks. However, the scale has not moved in two weeks and I'm getting worried!

I'm in the same boat! We just gotta stick it out, and the weight will come off :)

I am exactly 4 weeks post op and I've lost 10 % of my weight as my doctor said I would in the first month; I've lost a total of 29 pounds!!!

Is everyone weighing themselves daily? Seems a bit obsessive I'm 5 days post op and feel no need to weigh myself Will let the nurse weigh me at my first post-op visit 6-26. My responsibility as I see it is to follow my Dr andNut instructions the weight loss will follow. Some of you sound tormented by the scale. Just an observation

I weigh myself once per week...I can't wait for every drs appt because I just had my 2 week and then I wont have another one til the 2 month, 6 month and 1 year.

I've never heard that 10% thing before, but that seems pretty accurate!

I lost about 20 lbs in the first 2 weeks. Trying not to get on the scale is hard. I was low BMI and have already lost 10% of my body weight! Very proud of myself.

I lost 15 lbs the first month. Almost 8 weeks out and I'm down about 27lbs total now.

I'm five days out and lost about 20lbs since Monday (down from 269 day of surgery to 247 this morning). I started with a low BMI 37.5. I did the surgery to lose type 2 diabetes... So far I'm off the insulin pump and on just metformin. I won't care about the scale as long as the diabetes keeps moving in the right direction :)

Good luck all!

Jeremy

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
