SuzyB 182 Posted June 13, 2013 Hi Everyone I am Suzy and I live in CO. I am considering the sleeve as my weight is very high and I am tired of it. I have tried many diets and can lose 20-50lbs but then I gain it all back again. I have 4 kids 12-5 years old. I am currently a SAHM but would like to return to work in the next few years. I know at my weight right now, I would have a hard time finding a job. My concern is has anyone done this without the cheerleading of your spouse. My husband is not in favor but knows he doesn't have the final say. He feels like I could do this all on my own. did that failed it. He has always prefered larger girls. I was 220 when met. He says he will drive to to and home from the hospital, stay with me and support me but not be a cheerleader. I have friends that are supportive so they are the people I talk to about it. He worries about how meals will change. I told him they would be more healthy. I would be eating much smaller portions. He does have a weight problem himself. He will not consider WLS himself. I know I can't convince him too. It must be his own decision. Suzy
Dannipo 86 Posted June 13, 2013 Welcome to the board. I have a almost little to no encouragement also, but I will not let that stop me. I want to be at a healthier weight for me and my children. I want to be a better example of healthly living for my children. As far as my other half, I'm hoping he will follow my lead. I have already told him, I'm not cooking the same crap, so he better get use to the change now or he will be starving after surgery. I'm not putting myself in the space to fail at the sleeve. I have stopped cooking a lot of thing while I am waiting for my surgery date. He complained at first but know, he goes with the flow. I also tell him if you want it that bad cook it yourself or go out and get it. Most of the time he doesn't, food is his comfort (as it is mine) when things don't go his way. So I say lets talk about it instead of eating about it. I also get more support from my friends than family. Good luck and keep us posted.
