Sleeveofsteel 22 Posted July 30, 2013 My Hair loss started at 3 months and ended at 6 months like clockwork. I'll admit, I lost about 60% of my hair. I had some very thin spots that I just made sure I kept my hair combed in that area. It started growing back around month 7. The thin spots have all filled in and I have about 3 inches of wild re-growth all over! I'm 1 year out now. So, it does grow back, but it will take time. I've been slowing cutting my hair so it meets up with the new hair quicker. My guess is it will take about a year, but at least it's happening. For a while, I was afraid to put my hair in a ponytail because I was afraid it would break off all in one piece! But it won't. It is scary, but knowing that it will come back makes it more tolerable. Make sure you're getting in lots of Protein and Biotin!!!!! 1 jenlen reacted to this
cindymg 629 Posted July 31, 2013 Fish Oil, take fish oil! My hair started thinning in my 50s, long before my sleeve surgery. I started taking fish oil capsules because I couldn't take cholesterol meds, and quite by accident I noticed one day that there was no longer hair in the shower drain, and on my hands after I put gel in my hair. The pre and post op diets don't contain enough good fats, that's why your hair falls out. GNC and Amazon have a gel fish oil, 2,000 mg, called Coromega. It's much easier to take for sleevers than trying to swallow big fish oil capsules. To help hair regrow, look in Revita Shampoo and conditioners. Avail on Amazon. They also have minoxidil serums for the scalp. I've been using their products for about a year and my hair is thicker and I see a lot of regrowth where it was thinning.
