Hitting a weight loss plateau this soon?

Recommended Posts

I've read over and over of sleevers on here who stall in the first few weeks - it's normal! We've got to remember that we've just put our body through TWO major traumas - surgery and calorie reduction. Keep doing what you're told to do (although I would increase my Fluid intake - my minimum is 64oz/day) and the scale *will* move again! Patience will be helpful for skin bounce back as you lose slowly :).

I was stuck from my two week post op appointment until yesterday, which was my four week appointment. I will officially one month out tomorrow and I fluctuated between 225 and 227 for 13 days before finally losing again today.

Don't regret it. You can't take it back, you can't superglue your stomach back on and you really can't quit now, so banish the negativity. Just keep doing what you are supposed to be doing and the scale will start moving.

I woke up to 2.4 pounds gone today and I am thrilled! That's more than I've shown as lost in 2 weeks! It will happen for you, too. No doubts.

Wondering the same thing here... I'm days post-op and other than 3 pounds I lost day 3 (I was back to my day of surgery weight by day 2), the scale hasn't moved at all. I am getting all of my Water in and btwn Protein Shakes and Isopure I'm hitting about 70g of Protein a day - hardly taking in many calories though bc I'm on all liquids. I keep hearing about the 3rd week stall but what about the first? It's a bit frustrating - I'm persevering but also wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

As soon as I was able to get 800 to 1000 calories...the weight came off much faster. I think my body was in shock from the sudden reduction and it stored what it could. Hang in there!!)

That's kinda what I was thinking but it's such a scary thought! But I'm in the medical field and should know enough to realize my body is in starvation mode and holding onto everything rather than dropping the weight since I'm at such a low caloric intake.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance :)

I was thinking the same thing too that it would probably help to try to get my calories up to around 1000 so I could get out of starvation mode after being overweight my whole life my body is super efficient at holding onto fat..lol

I too find the more I eat the more the scale moves. I'm only a month out from having surgery and I've had two long dreaded stalls so, I would try to cut back on foods and it never worked. Psychologically its hard to believe that the more we eat the more we'll lose...but undoubtedly its true. I ate almost 1200 calories yesterday and BAM this morning the scale moved again. Tadahhhh

I stalled out about 3 weeks after surgery and I was MAD!! It lasted for 18 days...then the scale started moving again. I'm 13 pounds down past that first stall and I think I'm hitting another one. That's pretty common, don't sweat it.

Thanks everyone! I guess my body's in starvation mode right now. I was 374 on the 3rd of February and now I'm 309 today. I'm still on liquids only diet since I'm 10 days out. Oh!! Who would think scrambled eggs and applesauce looks so good now...lol.

Thanks everyone for your support. It's nice to know that we have somewhere to go for support. Doctors are good at what they know but unless they have been through this, it's hard for them to know everything. Thanks again!! :)

I feel so relieved to read all of these entries!! I had the surgery on Jan. 29, 2013. So far Ive lost 68 lbs.BUT I've been stalled for the last month. Of course the minute that happens, the old guilt starts and I wonder what I am doing wrong. What am I eating wrong now, etc. etc. I'm still so paranoid and panicked when I don't lose that it's my fault. I know intellectually that it's not, but emotionally, there's still a battle!

It really helps to read that others are going through the same things I am!!!

I was talking with my boss, who is also my friend, about my first stall and she said wouldn't that be funny if what I had lost was all I was going to loose.

No, that would not be too funny!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
