lsereno 2,525 Posted June 13, 2013 Probably you can drink faster as soon as you are able. For many, the most they can handle is an ounce very 15 minutes at first. Lynda
Sumsuz68 53 Posted June 13, 2013 I was able to start drinking bigger sips and more ounces about 1 week after surgery. From there it just got more and more. I am 3 1/2 months post op now and can chug it if I want to, but I only do a few gulps at a time to make sure I don't stretch my sleeve. . Hope this helps. prayergirl 55 Posted June 13, 2013 Lol! I so understand how you feel! I'm a chugger, too! I'm only a week post-op and can already tell the difference. I can take in more, now. But I'm still really nervous about doing too much, so I don't over do it. I mean it takes me 30 min. to eat 1/4 cup of cream of wheat! That was normally 2 bites. As far as liquids, my RN told me 4-6oz. an hour. I know I have gone over that (not by a lot) and had no issues. Best of luck to you!
