About 2 weeks ago I got a rash that is on my arms' date=' hands, legs and stomach. I went to the dr and he said to take an antihistamine and have me a Rx for a steroid cream. It's not going away. I read that when you go through fat loss and in ketosis, the toxins are being released at a rapid rate which causes the itchy rash. Has anyone experienced this and how long does it last??? I'm going crazy, not only from the itching, but my arms and legs are so ugly looking![/quote']

OMGeeee!!!!! I had this but I thought my pup had fleas! Lmbo! No wonder flea treatment wasn't needed at home. Smh.... Hehehee!!!

I am almost 6 months out and I have had a rash like this off and on for the last two months. I have been to my family doctor and my dermotogist twice. Both can't figure out what it is or what is causing it. Neither thought it was caused by the sleeve. I was put on a stroid and I sure didn't like that as I didn't lose a pound the whole time I was on it. I am going for another opinion next week.

If they gave you any kind of blood thinner when you had surgery, you might have an allergic reaction to it. I was on blood thinners(shots) for three weeks when I had my hip replaced. After about the first week, I started getting a rash on my stomach. I have a lot of allergies, so wasn't too concerned. Asked my doc and he said that lots of people have a reaction from the blood thinner and it would go away after I quit taking the shots. Well, it took almost 2 weeks after the last shot for it to work itself out of my body and for the rash to go away. I just had to take benadryl cream on it and took the benadryl in pill form, too. I, also, used hydrocortisone cream on the rash, but not at the same time as the benadryl cream. Just alternated the two.

I got my biopsy back and it's an allergy to the sun (Lichenoid photodermatitis). I researched it and come to find out, photosensitivity can be caused by medications, one of them being Omeprazole. I am weening myself off it to see if that helps. I've had this rash for a little over 4 weeks now. Hopefully getting of that medication helps.

OH! That makes total sense. I was in the sun yesterday! I wonder if the medication is a reaction!

Spoke to my RN from the bariatric clinic and she doesn't think it's the medicine for me as I would have had a reaction a long time ago and it would be on more than just my arms. So we talked about the only thing that was different yesterday and I had an Atkins bar and I haven't had any soy products since surgery. She said it could be, that after surgery, I'm unmasking a soy allergy. Who knows :(

I had this as well. Mines started about 3 weeks post surgery and lasted for a good 6 to 8 weeks. I started taking an Iron supplement along with my other Vitamins, used coconut oil and changed to a coconut based body wash. All that helped to end the rash and itching caused when I was in Ketosis.

Wow! I'm not alone :)

I developed a rash on my back about a week ago. insanely itchy!! I thought maybe i was having an allergic reaction to my anti-reflux meds but when I stopped taking them it didn't go away and when I started up again it didn't get any worse. Then I thought some weird bugs had got under my shirt and bitten me. Now I'm thinking it might be what all you guys are experiencing. I hope it goes away soon!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
