Iniysa 157 Posted June 12, 2013 I'm about to take my first shower since the morning of surgery. Any recommendations on how to do this as pain free as possible?
MIJourney 490 Posted June 12, 2013 Let the Water hit your back. I didn't scrub where my incisions were but let the soap and suds just run over them. 1 FeeIsMe2 reacted to this
Molly3 495 Posted June 12, 2013 Make sure the Water isn't too warm!
kchristian 64 Posted June 12, 2013 I actually had to have my husband help me shower! I had him brace my stomach while I washed my hair and body. Don't know about you, but I couldn't walk around without holding a pillow to my stomach for the first week and a half. Oh and if you shave your legs, try your best to bring them up to you. I tried to bend over, let's just say that was not a pleasant experience. Thank goodness I have little tiny shelves in my shower that I could put my foot up on. (I honestly think they were meant to be seats, but not with my huge rear end)!!! But oh, the joy of feeling scrubbed clean after that shower was amazing
kchristian 64 Posted June 12, 2013 Oh and don't be surprised if you feel like you just ran a 5K after your shower. I had to lay down and take a nap. It was exhausting.
Katnroyal 225 Posted June 12, 2013 I had my husband help me shower, I just kind of stood there and held myself still. I didn't scrub around the incisions and it really is an exhausting time. But oh it felt so wonderful!
Iniysa 157 Posted June 12, 2013 Thank you for the ideas! I had to do it on my own, so I leaned against the shower wall and made sure the spray didn't hit my incisions. Good call on just letting the soap and Water rinse my wounds. Cleaning my feet was an entirely different situation, though. Lol
