Quick Answers, What to eat healthy at fast foods or franchise Restaurants

Recommended Posts

I am curious how sleevers can live in the "real world, with others" and eat the right foods daily at common fast food and restaurants. WHAT DO YOU ORDER?

Order what you want & take a box to go. Don't stress about that. :0)

Disclaimer: Not about to preach & tell someone what choices to make when they eat- not my business!

Edit:

Ah I totally misread that question. My plan is to pack lunches and get away from fast food completely. I cannot wait to experiment & make my own delicious dishes at home :0) If I do go out to dinner I will order what I want and have leftovers for my family. I hope that helps.

It depends on where I'm going but I tend to order mostly good Proteins without any sides or drink. As long as you focus on a lean Protein first and fill up on it you will be fine. Avoid all the container foods (wraps, bread, buns). Order a chicken salad and eat just the chicken with no dressing (or lite). Avoid fried go for grilled. I have found that I can get a high protein meal from almost anywhere as long as you look for it.

At fast food resturants I tend to get grilled chicken sandwhiches and take the bun off or order it with no bun. At sit down places I get either grilled chicken or fish and a side of steamed veggies. Occasionally I'll get a sweet potato as a side and eat just a few bites after I have finished what of everything else I can eat. I don't do fried foods and I stay away from carb (except the occasional few bites of sweet potato) and bread.< /p>

Actually, fast food can be our friend.

McDonland's: Grilled chicken salad.

Starbucks: Spinach feta/egg white wrap. I just unwrap it

Taco Cabana: Most any fajita dish

Wendy's: Chili

Most fast food places have had plenty we could eat for a long time. We just didn't know pre sleeve. :-)

When you get bored, google the chains and most have their menus and NUT values online. Takes the guess work out of it.

Wendy's chili, small and it will be a meal and a mini meal/snack. At McDonalds I will get a hamburger and eat half the bun and all the meat. Chick Fil A - I wouldn't have eaten nuggets before reaching goal, but I do eat there now occasionally, 6 nuggets are 200 calories, and the Protein is pretty good, a better choice is their chicken Soup, the small is 120 calories and not bad in protein either.....and on top of low calories, it is good!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
