dimples4u 13 Posted June 12, 2013 Has anyone doctor require a laxative day or two before surgery? My doctor has not mentioned it and seems a little weird.
Guest Posted June 12, 2013 Yes, I had to drink 1 bottle of Miralax the day before surgery. Maybe it's on your paperwork??
Sydney Susan 333 Posted June 12, 2013 I think most don't. But if you know you have a slow gut you might want to anyway. I did a 'bowel prep' but dr didn't require it. Sooo glad I did, but that might just be me.
Guest Posted June 12, 2013 Yeah I would too because after surgery you will NOT want to be up using the toilet right away...
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted June 12, 2013 I couldn't eat after I think 5pm, had to drink Milk of Magnesia (shudder), and then couldn't have anything, not even Water, after 7pm, in prep for my surgery the following morning at 8am
FeeIsMe2 508 Posted June 12, 2013 I had only Clear Liquids after 5pm and also had to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate
MichiganChic 3,262 Posted June 12, 2013 I was on a full liquid diet for two weeks, clear liquids the evening before, then nothing after midnight. No bowel prep.
dimples4u 13 Posted June 14, 2013 Thanks guys... since I have been having a lot of issues with slow gut.. started a laxative... surgery in 4 days... been on liquid diet for two weeks and have been sick and no weight lost.. I am a little nervous because I need to lose 8 more lbs. Have not been able to eat or drink anythng without horrible stomach cramps. I think this has been caused by my um.. slow gut...I figured from all the Protein.< /p>
