Hi everyone!

Did anyone have massive bruising after surgery? I am covered & I'm not exaggerating! I have just seen pics of tummies that have no bruising what so ever!?

Just curious, THX!

Yes brushing is very normal, especially a few days post op.

I had a lot after my sleeve.

Think about all the little tunnels they create for the tools ;-)

I only had bruising low on my stomach where I received the blood thinner shots -- bad, ugly bruising. I'm 12 days post op and they are starting to fade a bit. No bruises from the actual surgery - guess I was lucky with that.

I have about 7 "call the authorities because this woman is clearly in a domestic situation" bruises on the backs of both my arms. That's where they injected the blood thinner every 8 hours for the 3 days I was there. You forget they are there until someone's sweet granny walks up and says "be strong, you can leave" and walks away.

Went to my follow up yesterday & my surgeon said........I'M A BLEEDER! So that explains why I bruised the way I did!

I had some big bruises on my hips which are from being strapped onto the operating table. My tummy bruises weren't too bad. But they must have mashed my boobs strapping me onto that table cuz the girls were sore too, but no bruising. Sounds like I was taking part in an S&M club! LOL!

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
