When did your gas get better?

Recommended Posts

This is only day15 bit I am so gassy still! I've never been a gassy person and I don't even know how to make myself burp so it all has to go out the other way.

Is it all this Greek yogurt fermenting in my belly? Maybe it's lactose intolerance? Or is it just my stomach adjusting to being smaller?

I had my surgery a little over a year ago, and I still get gassy, and I do believe a lot of it has to do with how much air you take in when you're eating. I just try to eat slowly and not gulp my food (or drink) down. I've also noticed that when I eat yogurt or drink milk, I get gassy. I've been wondering too if my stomach has changed now that it's smaller and no longer tolerates lactose as well as it used to, but I read a bit about lactose intolereance online and I don't think what I experience is severe enough to make me concerned about having developed the intolerance. If you do think your gas is severe enough, you should definitely ask your doctor the next time you see him/her, though I think, if anything, it could just be your stomach adjusting to the changes and food you're re-introducing to it.

I have/had IBS. Before surgery my gas came out the bottom end......all the time. Post surgery I've tooted maybe twice in three weeks but I'm burping like crazy now. I'd rather burp than toot I guess. It's a nice change lol

Thanks all. Well I can't gulp anything, I can't even take a decent size sip or bite. I really suspect all this dairy which I am not used to and yet the 2 week pre surgery liquids was mostly Protein shakes and yogurt too without gas.

I just hope it PASSES. Yuk yuk

When did your gas get better?

vegasneon

OMG

at $3.43 a gallon i don't think gas is ever gonna get better

ok, ok - seriously now ;)

i was lucky not to experience any gas after surgery :)

you "probably" know that you should be walking ALOT!!!!

even if you are still weak - or tired...........i have heard that you should force yourself to walk

any walking will help get rid of the gas

hopefully you will feel better soon

hope your recuperation is going well besides that issue

good luck

kathy

I have been walking but I'm only up to 1 and 1/3 of a mile at a time. I walk around in my house and shady backyard during the day when its 108 degrees and then I walk the longer walks at 10 or 11pm. I would walk more if it wasnt summer I think.

Gas is about the same here. We saw a $3.31 yesterday and my DH thought that was the lowest possible around here. Here being Las Vegas, NV.

The only gas issues I had were the shoulder pains from the CO2. They bothered me for about 2 weeks but that was it. No "other" gas issues as all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
