Has anyone else experienced dizziness after their surgery? I had surgery in January of this year and for about the past week and half I've been experiencing dizzy spells. They happen daily sometimes multiple times a day. Anyone else have this problem? If so was there something wrong?

I have heard that when people need to come off or down on some of their meds (especially BP) they are dizzy. Could that be it? or possibly a Vitamin drop, maybe Iron or B12?

Just a thought....hope you feel better.

Yes, mine was because my blood pressure got too low. Once I was off the medication, I haven't had this issue again.

Well I'm not on any medication, except for iron... Which, I just realized, I have been slacking on taking. I'm gonna get on top of that and see if it changes anything. Thank you!

When I seen my dr. a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned being light head. I was on a steroid for inflammation in my lower back. She thought it was from that, but did tell me to get back in if it continued I might be dehydrated. So make sure you are getting in your fluids. Just a thought.

Ever since my surgery I get dizzy a lot too. And weird, but I notice it the most when I go in the hot tub or take a hot shower. It never used to happen before and now it's a daily thing :(

How's your blood pressure. Mine after a hot bath a couple of weeks ago was like 76/45. Pcp said just be careful and try to take a cooler bath.

I don't know about weeks after surgery. I am having the same problem, but I am only 9 days out. The doctor told me I am dehydrated and if it doesn't get better by tomorrow then I have to be admitted to get fluids.

A few ladies on here told me I could be dehydrated, so I'm making a conscious effort to drink more Water. Also another poster mentioned medication which got me thinking about my slacking off in taking my Iron pills. So I'm trying both things for the next week and if it doesn't begin to get better I'm going to see my Dr.

I never thought about low blood pressure... hmmm. My blood pressure was always good even as a bigger girl, so I didn't think about it being low. Thanks for the heads up!

I also get dizzy...I'm 5 weeks post-op. some days it's all day. Have been monitoring BP and doc took me off one med.

I think it's hunger or lack of food. I'm still doing shakes and soft foods.

Yah after gaining weight I was alway 110/70, always low back when I was a normal weight. It was low after surgery, why couldn't have been the blood sugar that was perfect after surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
