Magic Bullet

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't waste my money on a Magic Bullet. There are a bunch of other contraptions out there that will do the same thing much cheaper! I bought mine a month or so after surgery after hearing people talk about it on here and I just had to have one. LOL I think I can count the number of times I have used it on one hand! I'm not a Protein Shake drinker though so maybe if I was I would use it more?

I haven't been banded yet & I also thought about getting a Magic Bullet. Just b/c of the good stuff I have heard.

I just bought a Hamilton Beach Blender/Smoothie maker @ Target & it is the best blender I have ever had. From reading this I am thinking I might not need the Magic Bullet.

I would say you wouldn't need the Magic Bullet. What you have should be fine.

I also have the cheap wal-mart version, and love it. I make salsa, guac, and protien smoothies in it no problem. It cost about $12 and also have a blend and go feature, with a spouted lid. I have used it for almost 18 months with no problems. It is the perfect size for just me, but not big enough to make smoothies for a family. ~Mandy

I had a good laugh today over my Magic Bullet. I went to blend my morning shake and after one pulse, the darn thing stopped. I removed it and tried again. No luck. I thought my 1.5 year run had ended and the motor blew. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in. No luck. Then the power in the house came back on.

My husband bought me one while i was in having surgery. I had mentioned it and it was a Godsend for Soups etc for liquid stage. It makes great smoothies and does not take up much space. I love mine.

My mom bought me one back before I even knew what a lapband was and I love mine. I've had it since they first came out. I think I've had mine 2+ years and it still works great. I don't use it everyday but I've used it a lot since banding. It works great for chicken salad. YUM!!!

I LOVE it and it's so nice to blend and slap the lid on and put in my lunch bag.

Yup. I feel a little vindicated because it was the middle of the day and nothing else was on (lights, tv, radio, etc.) so I had no other way of knowing the power had gone out. But still, I was feeling like my luck had run out and I was going to have to replace my beloved Bullet. I was happy when I pressed the button on the coffeemaker and it didn't work either.

If you have the Oster... have you seen the Oster Blend n Go cup? That might be a good option... utilize what you have and get the mixing in the cup bonus... (I found it on Amazon... )

No I haven't. But, I'll definitely check it out.

I just got one for Christmas! So far have only made smoothies for the kids, but it worked great for that. I want to make some ham salad from the leftover ham from Christmas dinner though. What are some of your favorite things to make besides smoothies?

I don't really have any favorites yet. Does anyone have a favorite blender/food processor recipe to post?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
