My doc says cream of mushroom or creamboc chicken is ok so long as it is strained...so maybe strained broccoli and cheddar is ok...I am 7 days out so hardly and expert. Good luck!

hmmm at 6 days, even watered down that might be a bit heavy. The broccoli would need to be thrown in the blender for sure. The cheese Soup might not settle well as some people post op have a lactose intolerance. Also a lot of processed Soups from fast food places have a ton of sodium and right now that might not be the best either. At a minimum you can try it and see, but definitely blend the broccoli.

Ok I mushed it good. I ate about 3 oz and was stuffed. I feel like I won the freaking lottery.

I also got an unsweetened tea - waiting to drink that!

If you have Tomato Soup let us know how it goes. I have never liked it but now I want it. I bought a can but haven't been brave enough to try it. If I can't eat it my husband will- he loves the stuff. I thought tomatoey things were supposed to be hard on some people.

I think Tomato Soup may be tough for some people due to its high acidity...I have never had canned tomato soup, so I can't speak to that, but I had tomato soup from Nordstrom's as well as from am Italian restaurant when I was 2 weeks out...was delish :-)

As to the broccoli cheese...that is the one soup I tried that didn't settle well for me a few weeks post-op...

For those that say they don't care for Tomato Soup, try the cambells golden Tomato. lower acid, and it's really quite good. For Soup, I bought some squash, peeled it, cooked the crap out of it and then pureed it and made it into a soup, it was delish.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
