I was sleeved on 6/5. Did pain meds pretty much every 4 hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. Only had one dose on Thursday and Friday and nothing yesterday. This evening I'm really hurting... It's pulling and my lower back muscles are hurting. Is this normal? Is it ok to take pain meds again?

If they were prescribed for you, then yes! I have been taking mine since I left the hospital.

YES this is normal...I didnt take my meds that often after coming home either....just dont like the idea...but I did take them when I went to sleep at night. I am 17 days post op and it does get better with each day! Yesterday was the 1st day I could bend over and pick something up off the floor. I think you back hurts from straining those muscles trying not to strain your stomach! You will be surprised at how each day gets easier!

I am guessing here but can't you switch to Over the counter meds for pain to avoid prescription meds?.But best to check with doc on which ones he prefers. And for pre op people, this is always a good question to know and ask pre op of your doc so to have on hand already.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
