Whoa! My fill kicked in!

Recommended Posts

Ya'll, I am totally shocked at this feeling of restriction. I got filled last Friday and I doubted that he was even in the port, because I was eating like a lumberjack! Suddenly today, after 4 or 5 bites I am finished, full all the way to my adam's apple. I know I read that it takes a few days, but this just doesn't make sense to me. I wonder why it works this way. Whatever, I am glad it works. I am gonna drop some lbs now! Yeah!

LOL. Yes. Isn't that strange? It is definitely a different feeling, so go slow with it until you see how it works. Even now morning to evening may be different or one day to the next. The band is fickle, but it does work!

Even more strange, a year down the road if they took your fill completely out, you feel very foreign NOT having the restriction.

I've been un-filled since June 14th and it's still strange to me that I don't have that restricted feeling.

Good luck with your new restriction!!

Leatha

Isint it great?

My first fill on June 7th 1.1cc's took about a week to kick in . I'm still going strong with it ..losing 1-2 pounds a week. Remember to eat slow and chew I know you know this but it is a whole different ball game now that you have restriction. Don't get discouraged if one day you have zero restriction and the next day WHAM you have restriction again. The band has a personality of its own , atleast mine does. Mine seems to tighten up when I have alot of anxiety or stress and around my period. Happy for you

Thanks ya'll, I definitely need to slow down and chew more.

That golf ball feeling really sucks! Now that I have restricton I will have to consiously pay attention to what, when and how I eat. Gone are the days of blindly popping something into your mouth and chomp, chomp, swallow! That will put the hurt on you quick, and once or twice is all I need to cure me of that!

You will see a lot of changes now. Be sure to take small bites and REALLY chew before you swallow. Don't panic if you get stuck. It takes a while to get this down. Well, it took m e a while, it may not you.. Good luck, You are already smaller than I am after a year. WOW, you are doing sooooo well.

When you have restriction I think the most important thing is to chew chew chew. It took me a while to remember to do that since I would usually inhale my food (lol) before.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
