I am coming close to 2 years post-op. I've lost 116 pounds and generally feel great, however lately (last 3 months) I've developed this night cough that has been persistent and keeps me up half the night. Seems to come and go and no matter how early I eat, it doesn't seem to matter. Has anybody else had a similar problem? I'd appreciate any feedback.

Happy Holidays!

Nick :help:

WOW Nick, Congratulations on the 116 lbs WHOOT ~~~ Good Job!

I've never heard of some one developing a cough and it being related to the band (but what do I know). I do know however that our bodies change every couple of years. Have you tried to sleep with an extra pillow or on an angle raising your upper body a tad? I can not lay totally flat or I get very conjested and hack away all night long too. Have you talked to your doctor?

Hopefully Doc C can chime in and give you the answers you need. Check him out on the complications board.

Good Luck !!!!!

gosh, 2 years later and you just NOW develope a night cough. Unless you've had recent adjustments, I doubt this is band related. Allergies maybe?

How long has this been going on?

I have found that from time to time my band has more and less restriction due to the change in weather. Sounds strange, but it is true. I posted a chart a month or so that shows if you have a night cough you may be too tight. The chart is located under fill information. and is labeled the green zone. If you don't see it there, you can go to the website listed under my signature and see it there. Good luck.

I haven't been sick in more than 10 years, but I've been on three different antibiotics in the last 30 days, due to sinus (snots), sore throat, and horrible cough. I've been banded more than two years, I don't contribute it to the band. Probably, because I got out of the habit of taking my Cod Liver Oil pills each day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
