Going it alone vs Going with a facilitator...

Recommended Posts

Just wondering from ppl out there that have went to Mexico (PV) and had the sleeve done on their own, not going with a facilitator, how was it, where did you stay afterwards, what was it like making the arrangements. I went through a facilitator, but now I have family members that want to go have it done, and I told them I was willing to go down with them, as I think it is a matter of getting to and from your hotel to hospital after surgery. Maybe I am wrong. So would be nice to hear from some of you that opted to do it alone, as it is cheaper to go on your own.

It's ll n the price. I have family that is going back and we're using my Cordinator, Trish.. Because she's awesome. She's included in the price as well as transportation, hotel etc. Less stress and hassle.

I don't think that you can go alone. The surgeons work with the coordinators for a reason and of course everything is done for you including transportation and hotel. I doubt that you would get such a good deal if you priced it out yourself.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
