Who can eat everything?

Recommended Posts

Scheduled for surgery June 18th. I'm curious to know if once everything is healed and you are comfortable with the sleeve are there any foods that you cannot eat. Even if you choose nit to eat something could you eat if you chose?

I've never had a problem getting any type of food after surgery and it sucks. lol I totally wish my body hated carbs and sugary things but nope. They were a danger before surgery and they totally are now as well.

I haven't had any problems.... After I followed all of my stages in the beginning. And was released to all foods everything has been fine. I chose not to eat certain things but I could if I wanted.

Pasta doesn't sit well.

I'm still reluctant to try bread or rice. I'm going on 3 months postop.

I tried everything except bread since I'm wheat intolerant. I tried fried chicken, rice Pasta, rice, candy, tortilla chips.. Course I don't eat these things regularly, I just wanted to give everything a try when I was going through my reintroduction phases. Yeah, nothing I can't eat! Pretty much have a sleeve of steel!

Thanks. I know there will be things I won't want to eat to get the most out of my . Sleeve but I think it would bother me to be unable to. At least it seems that way now.

Most of the things I try sit just fine. There are days I can eat something and have the same thing the very next day and it does not want to sit well... But over all its ok

I'm 103 days post-op and can eat anything except turkey. I have no clue why my sleeve doesn't like it but I have gotten violently sick every time I've tried it. Anyone have a theory as to why turkey would make me so sick? chicken, pork, even steak give me no problems at all other than feeling very restricted with the quantity I eat (which I love!!)..

I had 15 months after my surgery and the rice still make me feel sick. and if I eat too fast I pay a high price. pain and more until everything is out. BUT NO REGRET!

It took me longer than many here, but I can eat about anything now. Tortillas still bother me but not if I only eat a bite or two. Greasy foods don't sit well either, but that was true when I was younger too. I think I spent so many years eating a lot of them my pre-op tummy got used to them, but no more! I also prefer my apples peeled now.

And surgery unmasked my lactose intolerance. It was really bad early out, but I can have a little ice cream soft cheese, or milk now, just not every day. I was able to tolerate greek yogurt and hard cheese pretty quickly after surgery.

I'm still a newbie at 5 weeks post-op, but everything I've tried has been fine. Still haven't tried steak, carbonation or raw veggies (well, there was a tiny bit of lettuce in something I ate the other day as well as cucumber in sushi) and so far so good. No Pasta yet, but bread, rice and tortillas all seem to go down just fine (granted, each of those have only been a couple bites worth each time, but doesn't seem to bring discomfort or bring "fullness" faster than w/o)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
