Mine lasted from about month 4 to between 9 and 10. I was getting all of my Protein, taking all my Vitamins, and was taking Biotin from my pre op diet on. I tried nioxin, fight fall Shampoo & everything else that has been suggested. Nothing worked. And my hair was thin to start with.

It just stopped on it's own. I now have tons of little baby hairs at the roots. I wish I had better advice. I can tell you the 155 pounds I've lost is well worth the Hair loss.< /p>

I'm almost 8 weeks out and mine is falling out. I'm getting 60-80 g of Protein a day so I'm guessing that's not enough. Doc said I wouldn't lose my hair if I had my protein and took my Vitamins. Still falling out.

I am 7 mos post op and my Hair loss has slowed WAY DOWN. I believe I started losing about 4 mos out. My hair is definetly thin on top but not bad at all. I have been taking Folic Acid as a prescription for 15 years and I added a Biotin pill as well. I had a rough couple of months so I did not even get close to meeting my Protein goal.

Your hair falls out anyway. Really not much you can do about it. It's the weight loss from extreme drop in calories and anesthesia. Docs shouldn't tell their patient it won't happen if you do such and such cause it happens to everyone.

I asked my doc about this. He said your hair will this, that's normal. But if your hair is falling out, you need more Protein. I have no idea if that's true or not since it's the first time I've heard of it.

I lost mine from month 3 and now in 7 it is starting to thicken up again. I got all my Protein and Vitamins. The Biotin doesn't help stop Hair loss but it was a tremendous help for growing back...the entire time I was losing I had regrowth because of biotin (granted much slower than I was losing hair lol) its just a phase amd if its gonna happen to u there is nothing u can really do just stuff that helps. I ended up getting highlights to disguise some of the thinning too because I have really dark hair. I swallowed 10000mg at 3 months it didn't bother me plus it was a very small pill

Interesting! I'm glad you said that because he definitely had me thinking I could prevent it completely.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
