Ok I was sleeved on may 29th and went back to work part-time on the 3rd. Most of my pain has gone away I didn't even take any pain meds today. But I'm still feel so weak I just walked to the store 3 blocks from my house and I'm dripping sweat. An I had to stop at DD to sit and get a small coffee before I walk back home. Is this normal or I'm I just over doing it?

I was two weeks out before I could take a shower and do my makeup without resting. Good thing I have a desk job or I would never have been able to go back to work after one week.

I went to the store to pick up a few things, then to the ATM, and I was also dripping w sweat. I'm drinking a lot of fluids too. I felt faint - it was awful.

You are definitely over doing it. Listen to your body. I didn't find all the "extra energy" everyone talks about until about a month and a half to two months out and realistically, it isn't extra energy, it is less weight keeping me down.

Everyone is different...some have more energy than others. Dont let those with success put you down.

Interesting to read everyone's thoughts - I was sleeved yesterday and all I can manage is sleep and forcing sips of Water when I'm awake. Hope to find some energy within a few days of this! Although, the forced laziness IS awesome. I'm planning to return to work on the 17th.

I felt weak too the past couple days. I started drinking Vitamin Water zero and feel stronger today. I may have just been dehydrated. I hope you feel better soon!

Definitely sounds like you're dehydrated. And next time, have Water instead of coffee. Caffeine will dehydrate you faster.

Yep SLOW down!! My mom made the observation the other day that one problem with laprascopic surgery is that we forget we have had MAJOR SURGERY!! Also any other major surgery they would be encouraging us to eat good healthy foods for our body to heal, instead we have restricted our calories big time. It takes time.

I went back to work after 2 weeks (but I only work 1 full day a week) had to take a nap at lunch, and it was 5 weeks before I returned to all my activities. But I also had complications during surgery, and I'm 53. I also felt like I should be more based on those posts you mentioned.

This was exactly how I felt the first couple of days postop.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
