My husband and I go to the movies a lot and the Snacks there are NOT healthy at all. Sometimes I will treat myself to some popcorn but am looking for other ideas that I can bring with me. Let me know your suggestions, thanks.

I often go to an early matinee and I bring my lunch. One of my favs to take is a low fat cheese stick with low fat lunch meat wrapped around it, Special K crackers, and can of V-8 juice.

Early out when I still struggled to get enough Protein, I brought beef Jerky or a Protein shake. I don't eat Jerky or Protein shakes now that I can get enough Protein.< /p>

Grapes, berries, or cut up fruit are also good. Or raw veggies, such as cucumbers and carrots sliced into small rounds, sugar snap peas, cherry tomatoes, and celery (my program allows celery, some do not).

I'm pre op and I usually just bring my own food. One night I went and a lady had her own fried chicken and sauce! LOL

I agree with Butterfly gal.... roasted edamame or soy nuts are a great snack, high in Protein and very filling. I also enjoy a chopped apple sprinkled with cinnamon. Sitting at the movies is a great time to sip on water! :)

I slice apples, or take cuties, walnuts, strawberries - or nothing. A cup of ice is a chompy, chewy way to get your snack in.

Kale wrapped around apple slices w/almond butter is awesome. If you dollop the buter on a paper towel first it will soak up alot of the oil, and be an even healthier snack.

I've brought little 'roll-ups' - I cut a lf cheese stick into 4 pieces and roll a thin slice of turkey around each one, I've also brought a Mini Baby Bel (low fat) and a bag of fruit crisps - which are freeze dried fruit, it comes in Fuji apple, Asian pear or strawberry & banana - 35 - 45 calories. Nothing added , it's just fruit. I've also brought baby carrots and celery sticks.

I do eat popcorn at home (it's Skinny Pop Popcorn) low in fat & sodium, on occasion. I haven't brought that to the movies, the 4 cups wouldn't fit in my pocketbook.

Lol @ ass pickle!

I like those 100 calorie Emerald brand almond packs. I've tried the cocoa and the cinnamon -- I liked them both a lot.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
