It so true how when overweight we have to be UBER FUNNY OR CHARMING or up our fashion sense and makeup skills to get respect and sometimes approval granted to someone just naturally beautiful and skinny!

I know just how you feel.

I was worried about losing my image as an old looking, heavy breathing, jolly fat guy.

Now I am a not so old looking, easy breathing, happy but not jolly skinny guy.

Image, meh. <_<

I always hated playing Santa anyway, and I hated being asked.

Gman...you can be MY Santa any day...

I take diva & b***h each as compliments, but I've never been called a diva! lol . . .all women have various connotations with each word . . .just be you & you'll be fine!

You won't change, but your relationship with your friends might. When you are the 'big girl' you are a 'safe' person to your friends. When you lose weight they might see you as more of a threat - with your wonderful, great personality and confidence, possibly a triple threat. I know because previously I lost 100 pounds and my women friends treated me differently. I went through counseling for this.

I find this very interesting, I remember it was either in my evaluation with the psychologist or the psychiatrist that I was asked if there was any reason I should think that I would be met with jealousy from friends during my weight loss journey..I didn't understand why there should be a problem but with what you just explained, it makes complete sense to ask that question.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
