My surgery is Monday! Woot! Woot!! Size 6, here I come, I've missed you so much the last 8 years!! Had a question for you sleever's! How long were you on Clear Liquids? My doctor says clear liquids for 2 weeks, then full liquids 2 weeks, then puréed 2 to 4 weeks, then soft for 2 weeks & then, slowly start adding regular foods in! I will not be doing puréed, YUCK!!!!

I was on clear liquids the 24 prior to surgery and while in the hospital. I was discharged to full liquids.

Not to be a nag, but you need to follow your surgeons instructions. If he said pureed for 2 to 4 weeks, do it. Looks like your surgeon does things differently than mine but it doesn't matter. If you need ideas for pureed food, there's probably threads here at VST with ideas.

Good luck to you!

The thought of puréed chicken, turkey, or any kind of meat makes me want to puke! There is no way I can do it!!

When I think of puréed chicken, I'm thinking a chicken salad except that the pieces are smaller. Or some sort of chicken or cream of chicken Soup with smaller pieces of chicken. I'm sure you could do something similar with turkey. pureed beef is just going to be just finger pieces of ground beef that you could put in a chili.

Okay I tried! :P

I'm hoping someone will pop in here and chime in with ideas. :) It might be in the morning until that happens tho.

I put the meat in a small food chopper and would add a bit of gravy. It was pretty good. Also look up the thread for ricotta bake. It's in the pureed stage and really yummy

Puree is not as gross as you think. It doesn't have to be pureed meat, get creative and think outside the box.

  • You could have soft scrambled egg with cheese, just mash with a fork

Hope this info helps.

You will be so happy to get off liquids, you will eat puréed anything! I didn't think I would be able to either, but its part of the deal and it was fine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
