jmsleever25 1 Posted June 8, 2013 Today is my tenth day post op, and everything is going really well. My problem is that my sleeve sends me mixed/confusing signals, and I can't tell when I am hungry or when I am full really. My stomach is still kind of grumbly in general all of the time, and I think sometimes I confuse that for hunger. I will feel certain that I am hungry, go to have some broth or some juice, and my stomach says NEVERMIND and is clearly full after one mouthful. Other times, I will be having something and will be unsure if I am full or not, and can consume well over half a cup of a Protein Shake or some Soup in that particular sitting. Thoughts? How do you guys decipher the sometimes mysterious signals your sleeves send you?
ShrinkingBiker 121 Posted June 8, 2013 The first 6 weeks it is a bit of a learning thing.. There is lots of gas, and your stomach is pissed off at you on top of it.. lol It gets easier as time goes on.. I do tend to have to remind myself to eat at my stage (3 1/2 months) hunger is a different feeling then it used to be.. I don't even know how to accurately describe it... wam3 0 Posted June 8, 2013 I feel hungry frequently and am starting to get a little concerned. I had my surgery May 22, about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I have already started eating solid foods (i.e. chicken, salmon, burger, etc), which seems aggressive, but my surgeon said for me to start stage 3 on week 3. I get all my Protein and Water in daily, but am not sure if it's "head" hunger - where I am just missing food and my mind is messing with me, but it feels real. I've read and heard that acid in the stomach can mimic hunger. If you continue to get hungry ask your Dr. There are some people on a ppi that can help calm the acid, thus make you not misinterpret for hunger. Good luck
fp9107 121 Posted June 8, 2013 It takes some time to figure out your new stomach. When I was first sleeved any food that I put in it caused the most awful sounds, but that did subside in time. I am 3 and half months out now and when I am am almost full my stomach makes this huge burp sound and if I continue to eat I get the hiccups and my nose will start to run. You just have to figure out your stomachs signs and that will only come from trial and error and time. Good luck.
