Before and after foods?

Do you still eat some same foods or does your taste buds changed? What you no longer can eat? And what you still can eat?

Yep, eat basically what I want. Taste buds haven't changed. Haven't had issues with foods not settling well. I don't eat the same foods, however since that basically is how I became a fat ass, so I changed my habits and now strive for a healthy balanced diet.

The only food "change" for me has been coffee. I LOVED coffe before surgery. Drank it every am & knew exactly what was "good" coffee. Now . . CAN NOT tolerate the taste. And I am still grieving. I miss that warm, bitter morning tradition. Actually, I am completely caffeine free . . Probably haven't been caffeine free since I was 14 years old . . Ha, ha.

I loved ice cream before, now it just tastes too ... "bright", I mean, it tastes like pure sugar and fat, unless I make homemade. Also, the intense release of sugar into my blood stream makes me feel like the tail end of a 3 day bender :/

On the flip side, you couldn't have paid me to eat a mushroom before, now I purposely search out mushroom recipes! :P

I used to be a chocolate lover pre op now 3 months post op I cant eat ice cream or chocolate, after a bite or two my whole mouth and throat start tingling, like its telling me its way too much sugar at once, and once it goes down to my tummy I get nauseous. Great thing that I dont crave either...I dont necessarily follow a sugar free or low sugar diet but for some reason those 2 I cant handle.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
