Timeline for plastics. Is it to early to plan?

Recommended Posts

Hello! I was sleeved in Tijana by dr. Fernando Garcia on march, 22. I have currently lost 36 pounds and weigh 198 pounds. My weight loss has been steady every week. My question to those of that have gone through this involves the timeline. I would like to schedule a MM for the Christmas holidays this year (I'm an educator that gets two weeks off during this time). So, will I have time for a good recovery before I return to work? If I haven't reached my goal of 150 by then will the MM be a bad idea? I would like to hear any advice from those that have planned ahead of time (financial planning) and if it was a good idea. I'm also leaning towards getting this done in Tijauna due to costs. Hoping an excellent surgeon can be recommended? Thanks so much for any advice you can give me!

Mommy Makeover is a breast lift and Tummy Tuck at the same time. Six kids later and having been obese means I will need one! :)

Two weeks is not enough time to give yourself but congrats on your weightloss ..

Two weeks is an awfully short time to heal from a mommy makeover.....usually off for 6 weeks here in the states. Mexico maybe different, but you do not wanna take chances of sutures opening up or any other complications by going back to work too quickly. When you go to Mexico for plastic you usually stay in the area for several days. Drains and all are removed before leaving. You stay in a hotel. Then you have to travel home and recuperate from your travels. Mommy makeover is extensive work. There are some really great surgeons in Mexico but you can't rush your healing. May wanna think about waiting for summer. Or take extra vacation time if possible.

I am 9 months post op now and would have MM if I could get it scheduled. I am aiming for July - but it seems like it is going to be August now. The only reason I would recommend waiting is that I have noticed just in the past month that my weight is really shifting. I was a size 4-6 last month and just had to go buy new pants because I am in a size 2 now. If you have summer off, I would recommend waiting until then to have the MM - I am planning on taking at least 4 weeks off work because of the not being able to stand up straight. For some perspective - I had the sleeve on a Monday and was back at work on Friday....I don't tend to be on the overly cautious side but I have seen enough MM recoveries to know that 4 weeks would be realistic for me.

I am 17 months out, have been at goal for almost 6 months and my Dr suggests 2 years out, so no plastics until Dec or after. I have noticed a lot less skin hanging and even my face has gotten less hollow since I stopped losing. I think they like to know where the skin is going to land before cutting it off.

My doctor cleared me yesterday for plastics and gave me a referral. I have a consultation on Monday. I will be 8 months out next week. I'm 3 pounds from my goal weight. I wouldn't do it in the summer but goal is the fall.

I was told to wait 18 to 24 months before doing plastics. If you are not at goal, I would wait because you could have more loose skin after your MM. I am 17 months and I just had my upper arm lift and breast implant/lift two days ago. I am having a lower body lift on October and was told to take 6 weeks to recover.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
