They first 3 days were horrible. I was so nauseous from the pain meds. I literally dry heaved for 3 straight days. Hard keeping down liquids when you feel that bad. Hoping I start to feel better soon.. So fair, I'm not a happy camper. :(

My 1st day post op was ok, but I was exhausted as there is no sleep in the hospital.

Day 2, I was at home and slept through the day because of the day before.

Day 3, SUCKED DONKEY BUTT. Felt like crap, hated laying around.

Day 4, see day 3.

Day 5, I started Protein shakes (kind of) and resorted back to regular gatorade just to be able to tolerate fluids. MUCH better.

I am on day 21 post op and still take my Levsin (anti cramping) and an anti nausea pill every morning and sometimes in the evening. I've kind of moved to mushy foods, but bot really because they don't stay down. That said, I feel so much better.

The first 4 or 5 days are the worst and then it's all up from there. You can do this and it will be worth it!

How are you doing on your Protein these days? Have you found a way to get some more in?

Have you tried Bariatric fusion shakes? You can order them online. I mix one with 6 oz of Lactaid (8 extra grams of protein) and the powder has 27g, so if you can drink two 6oz shakes a day you are at 66 grams of Protein and past your mark! I drink one first thing in the morning and then usually later at night. The 2nd one is harder to drink than the first one, but I feel like CRAP if I dont' get in my protein, so it's worth it. I also read someone on here post that they look at their Protein Shakes like medicine. You HAVE to take it right now to keep yourself healthy - that actually helped my outlook on it. I gotta do it, so I make myself!!

I am forcing down a premier shake in the am. That's 30g, if I can get a yogurt in, too, that takes me to 40 and then I quit. Good enough, Ma?

Um...since you're asking, I'd like to see more. :-) Isopure? Mix it with some crystal light or Poweraid zero if you cant drink it straight.

Can you give me 20 more per day?

I mean, you did ask! ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
