I'm wishing I did the gastric bypass

Recommended Posts

I'm 101 days out which = 3 months and 10days。 CW:205.6 about 50lbs in 3 months and ten days out!!!

Surgery weight:255lbs

Current:205

I know it's good but I really wAnt to be at 135 lbs for the first time in my life!! I doubt it will happen with the sleeve!!! I do watch what I eat. I just think statistic wise, from what research I've done with the sleeve we only lose about 60% of excess weight. I'm also afraid of regaining weight! I really wish I had done the bypass!!! Long term on that shows people keeping it off!!

Oh well I guess it's a mental thing, I'm sure if I try harder, and exercise and make a life style change I will be good

My weight past few days has been going up one to two lbs.

Yeah, don't be a statistic. You can lose every pound of weight you want to, most likely. The fact that you've lost 50 in 3 months is great. The reality is that most of us could have lost the weight without the surgery, at least from a physiological standpoint. For me, the surgery just makes it possible to shoulder through the hard times when I normally would have given up. It's hard work either way, but the sleeve gives us a fighting chance, and at the end of the day, it's what we do with it. I know people who had RNY and have gained all their weight back and then some. Don't be discouraged about being up a pound or two, it's normal. At three months, that happened to me, too. I think that's about when my loss slowed a bit. I had to realize my body just could not keep losing at that rate. I figure it might take me another 8-12 months to get to goal, but every day I enjoy the fact that I'm feeling and looking so much better. Good luck to you - you can do this!

You will do great and you will get to goal!I lost "only"50 lbs my first 3 months too.I am also past that 60% of excess weight mark I have lost over 70% so far and plan to make it to 100% :)

Bypass and sleeve results converge long-term. There is no statistical difference. There are reasons to choose bypass (reflux, severe type 2 diabetes), but amount of weight you can lose is not one of them.

50 pounds is fabulous !! I've only lost 34 in 13wks, so I'm really slow even tho I work so hard on it!! It will work given enough time...keep the faith!!

If you wanna lose it step up cardio and weight training and really eat better!!! Not saying that you arent.. please dont take it like that... But The sleeve is our tool.. we must be active participants in it!!!!!!!!!!!

Trust me...the sleeve is way better than bypass.

I think that long-term you'll be happier with your decision to get the sleeve vs. the bypass

I work with three bypass people, two which have regained. Bands fail right and left at my work (for various reasons). I the only sleeve I know of and while I'm not going in to the 130s, I will lose all my excess weight. As Water shifts we'll see gain here and there, but if you're limiting your calories and getting some activity then there's no way you can't lose.

From what I've been told and I have read, none of the WLS are magic. If you really want to be successful, you need to change your approach and the way you think about food. No offense, but look at what you wrote. You are upset that you lost FIFTY pounds in three months. Can you imagine being capable of doing that pre-op? I certainly can not, and I'd be thrilled to have done so.

As for gaining it back, you would regain all the weight after any of the procedures if you decide to eat all the wrong things.

135 was my goal and I've been there for 14 months. I'm 5'6" and have a BMI of 21.8. There are a few others here and on obesityhelp who have similar losses and have kept it off.

I followed my plan, exercising, eating low fat firm Protein first, and avoiding calorie-laden foods. My caloric intake now is around 1200-1500 calories per day and I exercise (moderate paced walk) for an hour four days per week.

You can do it!

I am already past 60% of my excess and on my way to 80%. Its work, not a magic pill. But this is the only tool that Ive ever been able to use to help me achieve my ultimate goals. I feel proud that Ive had to sweat, grunt, learn how to eat right again and be successful and have the willpower to not eat crap food all day because if I did and didnt do all those other things (the grunting and sweating), I wouldnt be rid of all of my obesity related ailments and feeling fabulous. I bow to the sleeve :)

You're going to lose however much you want to lose. The procedure is not what decides on the success rate.. It's you. Set your mind right and your body will respond. This is a lifetime change not an overnight shrinky dink project ;)

Good luck.. You're weight loss is amazing!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
