I did not feel that way, the pre-op diet was hard for me. And, of course, like any diet, it wouldn't last for me. I knew WLS was the only way to help me control my food portions. I don't regret my decision at all.

I remember thinking that after 3 days on my pre-op diet that any other diet seemed waaaayyyyy more doable than I had ever thought before. I so badly wanted a small salad with some grilled chicken. I knew that I didn't have it, though, as I had tried and failed so many diets in the past.

Yes, but with my history of yo-yo diets and losing 60 only to gain it back it is frustrating. The sleeve is perfect for me. I am 4 months out and I have lost 82lbs. The sleeve is a great tool. It keeps me grounded. I know how much food I can tolerate at a sitting so I am cautious about my Protein intake which in turn helps me to avoid bad choices. I probably could have been successful but with the day to day drudges of life who knows how much I might have regained back. Good luck to you!

Exactly.. Like everyone else, I know myself too well to know diets are easy.. But once I hit goal I'm right back on the yoyo track gain. Nada for me

Thank you so much for responding. You are all correct. The pre-op diet is tough. I am

Suprised I have lasted 3 days. I know myself and could never to stick to any diet

My true only concern ( other than the risk of complications) is returning to work. I work in sales ( commission only) and travel for work.

I am so concerned about being okay to be my best at work. I am able to give myself 3 weeks off.

How did y'all feel after 3 weeks.

I know I was asked by some why not just eat like you would after surgery. The reality is, without the restriction I would be hungry. How do I know... I've been there. I would not have a built in "moderator" making sure I don't overindulge. I've done every diet know to man, a few times and it never took long term. I always had a big appetite and typically would eat until I was full... Full comes a lot quicker now.

Just knowing I chose surgery keeps me very focused. I'm a huge chicken who never was in the hospital before this, so It took a lot for me to get to the decision.

Everyone is different and only you can answer that question to satisfaction. Good luck!!

I was felt normal right after surgery and would have gone back to work right away. I had already scheduled 3 weeks off and it was Christmas time so my daughter and I enjoyed a MX vacation and time in San Diego and then through the new year. I went, but I didn't go skiing with everyone because I figured that was pushing my luck. You'll do great!

I am post-op. I can totally relate to your question. I started loosing weight when I started the process to get WLS. I met with a nutritionist and surgeon who gave me a list of things I needed to work on to prepare me for surgery. So doing things like Protein first, low carb, I manage to loose 48lbs in about 6 months. So I did start to think maybe I didn't need my surgery. After all I was self pay, that money could go to so many other things. But then I reminded myself. I have lost those same pounds over and over and over again. Sure I can loose weight, in fact I was a pro at it. I just can't make weight loss permanent. The most I lost was 90lbs and managed to gain it all back. So I didn't trust myself. I had the surgery. Not saying you should or shouldn't. Just know yourself, know the risks, and if you can keep the weight off, more power to you.

Good luck.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
