I know I have read this a million times but i need you guys. I am not having any luck with getting my fluids and Protein in. I can get about 40 grams protein and 30 oz of Water. My dr. Called today and they want me to go back in for fluids....my second time. A lot of this has to do with the fact I have diarrhea instead of the normal Constipation. Has anyone had this and how do I fix it? Everything that goes in comes right out...and I'm drinking all sugar free and using Unjury with almond milk.

Have your tried going with just Clear liquids to see if you can hold that down?

Yes....and Water is better but they want me ti drink gatoraide or propel sugar free for the electrolytes. I'm not vomiting....its the other way.

The same thing happened to me when I first came home. Try smart Water or mixing Vitamin water with regular water.

I will do that first thing tomorrow! How long does this phase last???

My surgery was May 28th, I came home on the 30th, and then from the 30th to about the 3rd I had diarrhea multiple times a day (tmi) and was severely dehydrated. I felt lightheaded, nauseous, and just like crap in general. I should've gone back to the hospital but was unaware it was that severe. Once I got super focused on my liquids it stopped. It took about 20 oz of Fluid a day to make the diarrhea stop and now I'm around 35 oz a day. Still not where I need to be but I feel sooo much better. I'm now bringing the Protein back.

I'm assuming your very recently post-op? Focus on hydration only...First and foremost. At this stage don't worry about Protein because protein won't matter if you become dehydrated. You get dehydrated and everything gets messed up. Smart Water is plain water with electrolytes. With such little water consumption and diarrhea you are quickly going to dehydrate. Water, water, water. :D

Actually I am 9 days post op. My surgery was on May 29th. My dr'S are just all over me to get fluids every 3 days unless I'm getting 64 oz of Water daily. I'm going to try the smart water. I will keep you guys posted. Thank you for all the information!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
