Has anyone heard of the Myers Cocktail? It is a mixture of vitamins/nutrients that is given through IV so that the Vitamins are absorbed directly in the bloodstream rather than being digested. I just saw it on Dr. Oz and was interested just due to the fact that I have a hard time keeping up my Vitamins. Just through the initial conversation, 1 lady gets the treatment monthly.

I'm curious if it would be beneficial or could replace a multi-Vitamin for us sleeve patients.

Unless you have a major illness your insurance won't cover Vitamin infusions and they get costly. Anywhere from $100 - $300 each. They are not FDA approved and are mostly used in trying to help cancer patients .. Or those wanting to pay for the service themselves. I think trying to stay up on simple OTC Vitamins is cheaper and easier

I take a high-potency prenatal Vitamin, at the recommendation of my doctor. I've had no trouble swallowing it and it doesn't make me nauseated even though it has a very high Iron level. It is a bit pricey at $60 for 100 pills, but that's $60 for over 3 months of Vitamins, so only $20 a month. I'll take it. I was spending twice that a WEEK on fast food before being sleeved.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
