Had my surgery June 3...drove myself to my first post-op appointment today. I'm still sore at the incision sites (especially where the surgeon took out my stomach). Otherwise, doing well. Just need to work harder on getting my fluids and Protein in. I'm doing well on exercise and Vitamins though.

You'll do fine, but expect to be sore for a while.

Wow I can only imagine the gas pain, they are no joke without surgery.. I heard walking and a heating pad helps with that.. & walking & sippin helps to get the Water down easier. Hope u start to feel better soon.

It will get better! U made it to the other side :-)

Thanks DaFierce1! I am trying to walk but I am so damn tired too! I need to figure out how to get my fluids in because I seem to get more gas when I sip.

I'm having problems getting all of my Fluid in as well. I was having pain with everything that I tried to drink (protein shakes included). My doc prescribed Raglan (aka Metoclopramide) which helps things move thru the body easier. Also, I stumbled on to another post a few days ago that recommended that people like me use a toddler's sippy cup. It gives the right amount of fluids w/o much air. I can sip on that easily!

Love my sippy cups. I just enlarged the holes a tiny bit so I didn't have to suck on it like the toddlers they're designed for. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
