2 days on pre op diet and I feel so weak. Felt like I was going to pass out at the gym. Doctor did not give me a diet but, he did tell me to only drink Protein Shakes. My issues is when I drink those shakes with no food in my system they make my stomach hurt. I know its worth it in the end but, honestly its hard to see the light at the end of tunnel when I feel this bad...

Make sure you are getting enough Protein, liquids, and that you're taking your supplements - this is vitally important. It'll pass soon, hang in there.

Most of my pass out feeling times were from lack of Water. Be sure to keep that up.

Thanks guys for the encouragement and pointers. I have not been able to get all my fluids in and I assume this contributes to my issue....

OUTSTANDING - so happy to hear this. Keep on doing what you're supposed to and you won't have to deal with all that again. Imagine the people who got to eat what they wanted up until the last minute before their surgery. They had to deal with their recovery AND what you just went through! :o

Keep up the good work!

Ok.. my post this morning was positive... tonight I am struggling. Day 3 has been ok until I went bowling with fam... I am so hungry.. I am sitting here quiet at this table watching my family eat a pizza. Its crazy because I just realized I have no idea the topic of conversation because I am struggling with not wanting to eat a slice of this pizza. I have walked away from this table to see a bowl of fries on another table.. need to get out of here !!!!

Oh I know the feeling! You are brave to still be doing the social thing during this time. I needed to remove myself from all food/social things during the pre op.

I always found evenings the hardest so I "saved"

Something for myself for the hard nighttime hours.

Do anything to get your mind off of the food! Try chewing a piece of gum! Remember: the pizza & fries are what got us to where we are...NOWHERE! One day at a time! Tomorrow you'll be so proud of yourself for not eating that NASTY food. lol Good luck! ;)

I want to spend as much time as I can with my family. I have to learn how to control myself in these situations.... Hard lesson though. Lol

Hard but a healthy way to look at it :)

Vertical sleeve is to dieting what Bruce Lee is to a fistfight.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
