Go outside and get some sun. It's absorbed a lot theough your scalp so don't wear a hat for 30 minutes or so!

I am too, I'm 10 months out and this is the only vit I've had a problem with since day 1 of the surgery. I work long hours in an office so don't see much sun. I've been taking vit d supplements.

I'm deficient in Vitamin D too & I'm not sleeved yet. Most people are deficient in Vit D, unless you are living in tropical weather & you are a son worshiper. My doc told me to take 3000mg's of Vit D daily & they are tiny pills, so easy to swallow I would imagine after being sleeved.

I was told that my Vit D was "dangerously low"... I was put on prescription Vit D b/c the over the counter wasn't producing.... Ask you doctor if you need the prescription...!

Sunshine is the only thing that helps my Vitamin D levels. Every sunny day that I possibly can, I spend 15 minutes lying down outside in shorts and a tank top, no sunscreen.

Longer periods in the sun really won't help much plus they can cause skin damage and I've already had skin cancer once!

Oh and after you come in from outside, don't take a shower or put lotion on or anything like that for at least 30 minutes. Your skin is still working to convert light into Vitamin D and those sorts of things will make it stop.

The Calcium/Vit D pills I got r horse pills! And the recommended dosage is 4x a day. The guy that works at The Vitamin Shoppe said thats the way they come. If they were to make a Calcium/Vit D pill to come in the recommended dosage, it would be as big as the bottle.

Oh, maybe cuz it's got Calcium added to it? Duhhh....

Yes, it could be because Calcium is added to it. My Vitamin D pills are tiny. I got the chewable calcium squares in chocolate & also raspberry flavor. They're pretty good!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
