Racheal 7 Posted June 5, 2013 Dr says everything went well and I only had a 1 night stay in hospital. I am home now with awful gas pain! I read that a heating pad helps alot, so I tried and it does work. But is it okay to put the heat on the surgery site? Also, we should be drinking 64 oz of Fluid a day.... It is 2 pm and I have gotten down 9 oz!! Anyone else have this problem/?
bigsleeve56 266 Posted June 5, 2013 heat will increase the swelling walking will do most for gas pain.
swimmom 124 Posted June 5, 2013 Keep walking for the gas, and keep your nose to the grindstone on the Water - dehydration is one of your biggest risks right now! The water seems impossible to get down in volume - we have all been there! But keep sipping slowly all day long - right now, that is your full time job! Carry that water bottle with you while you walk off the gas! 1 moonchild1968 reacted to this
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted June 5, 2013 I am three weeks out on Friday and if I can get 30oz in, I'm doing great. Just try really hard and you will build up to it. Sip and walk, sip and walk. 1 moonchild1968 reacted to this
rbott 37 Posted June 5, 2013 Gas pain is very normal, the best thing that you can do for yourself is getting up and moving. The more you are able to walk around the house the better your pain will get. As far as the Fluid intake, just keep sipping. I found that if I had a small water bottle that I could refill and keep track of how many bottles I had it kept me focused on getting the fluid in. Trust me you don't want to end up back in the hospital for dehydration. You can do this, stay focused. 1 moonchild1968 reacted to this
SMO 193 Posted June 5, 2013 Don't look at it as 64 ounces. Look at it as 1 ounce every 15 minutes as long as you are awake. Get a one ounce medicine cup or a shot glass and make that your mission for the day. Nothing is as important as staying hydrated right now.
