I GOT SLEEVED ON MONDAY JUNE 3rd...ouch

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved Monday, June 3. The first day I thought I was dying. Shoulder and back pain from gas was terrible and incisions were so sore. I didn't have the breath to carry on a conversation. Today is Wednesday, 2 days later, and I am feeling better as far as the soreness but the reflux and gas pain still are pretty bad. I'm trying to figure out how to get all of this liquid in me every day. I just keep looking at the END RESULT. I was 239 before preop diet, 231 went I went into hospital, and 230 when I left. Each day is a new day.

It WILL get better. Walking alot will help with the gas pain and also if you can get some GasX strips they helped me. Just progress with your liquid intake little by little! It will all come! Hoping you feel better soon!

I'm just 3 days ahead of you and I promise, it gets better each day. You are in the toughest part right now. When I was feeling like you are, I read posts from people who were 1 week, 2 weeks, a month (etc) out and it really gave me hope that it gets better pretty quickly. Hang in there!!!

I used a shot glass, a measuring cup and a clock to get my fluids in for the first few days. I drank one ounce every 15 minutes. Teeny sips all 15 minutes. It works out to 8 oz. every two hours and will get you very close to the recommended amount. I counted Protein shakes in my fluids.

Do get up and walk every couple of hours too. Just around the house is good.

Be kind to yourself. It's major surgery even though the incisions look small on the outside.

I too had surgery Monday. I was very sore, but doing good other wise. I have been walking since the night of my surgery. I have been taking Gas X chewables. If the pills and strips don't work. The chewables have been doing well for me. My doctor sent me home with Loratab liquid and a pain pump that is inserted in my stomach and is good for 5 days. Now I am just waiting on bowel movement. I have been keeping something by me at all times and sipping on it to stay hydrated. Good Luck!

I was sleeved Monday as well. Sooooooorrrre. But from what I know this is the worst day, maybe tomorrow, and I'm getting in my Water and walking. I was told 42 oz of Fluid and I've had more than 45. No nausea, and I've checked for fever and my temp is good.

I did cough up some blood, but it was right after a nosebleed. I think there may have been blood in my throat from that. If it's still bleeding tomorrow, I'll be calling for sure!

Prayers going out for all of my sleeve-siblings who want them!

I was sleeved on Tues. 6/4/13. The surgery and recovery for me was less than 1&1/2 hours. Within 2 hours I started walking. It was painful but got easier ever time I walked. I came home today. I've been sipping all day and even got 3oz of yogurt in and a shake. Hurts still but not as bad as it did by any means. We got this

Exactly all the symptoms I felt on may 31st when I had mine but tomorrow is my one week post-op and I feel pretty good. It gets better my friend let's just do it day by day. I am already down 14 pounds since last Friday, so it is well worth those two days of hell

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
