Water weight fluctuates. I know its easier said then done but try not to weight yourself everyday. Also at 2 weeks our you lost 14 lbs since surgery that is 7 lbs a week! Each and every lb is a victory. The weight will come off as long as you keep following your doctors/NUT guidelines. Did you just start purees or full liquids?

Heatwhip, I don't have any words of wisdom for you, just know you're NOT alone! scales went up 2 lbs over the weekend and are staying there right now. I'm doing my damndest to ignore it and just tell myself that the sleeve has worked for hundreds (thousands?) of people...it'll work for me/us, too!

If nothing else, I look at the averages. I'm 3 weeks post-op...even with the weight gain, I've lost ~12 lbs...so that's 4 lbs/week. That's still really, REALLY good for me. You've lost 14 lbs in TWO weeks...or even if it's now 10 lbs, that's FIVE lbs per week. Prior to the sleeve, I bet you'd have been thrilled with that!

So chin up, girl! Just keep doing what you're supposed to be doing, give it time, and you'll be thinner before you know it!

I had that happen! At two weeks post op I hit a stall, and I gained 5 pounds in 5 days. I was so frustrated!

But, here is the way it was explained to me: Right after the surgery your body starts to burn glycogen that is stored in your muscles. After a couple of weeks your muscles start to rebuild their glycogen supply. With the glycogen it has to store Water. All of that extra Water it stores leads to weight gain. But, while it's doing that, your body is still burning fat!

Don't worry, you'll get through it and the pounds will start coming off!

heatwhip - my entire second week I would gain a pound or so, then lose a pound, then gain 2 lbs - it was crazy. My surgeon said that he doesn't even LOOK at weight loss or worry about it until you hit 1 month. Your body is recovering from a trauma. It's totally confused as to what is going on right now so don't worry if you aren't losing right now. I PROMISE you it will start falling off if you get your fluids in and start getting your Protein in. If you are dehydrated, your body is going to hold on to every bit of Fluid it can. Just sip, sip, sip. I know you are only supposed to weigh weekly, but i'm OCD so that is not gonna work for me LOL - I do weigh daily, if it doesn't go down, I just say "ok, let's drink as much as we can today" and move on. If it DOES go down, I say "thank you God", do a little dance and drink, drink, drink :)

you WILL lose weight girl! :)

Thanks everyone! I am getting fluids in no problem! Yesterday I finally for over 60g of protien (1st day in purée)! I am feeling good! Clothes are already getting loose but that darn scale is killing me. Maybe I will make my husband hide it from me. I just don't want to fail! I will continue doing 100% because I didn't do this for nothing!

I think we went in the same day. I feel you. I think in our first month or so, the mental aspect of this journey is the hardest. Kudos on your WL!

I noticed today that a pair of my jeans are getting uncomfortably loose. I hadn't worn them in a few days, so the difference today was pretty noticeable. The scales say the same LOL, but the clothing is telling me something different. :)

Could be Water weight or Constipation. I've gained 3-5 lbs overnight, at times, but then it DOES go away, as long as I keep doing the right things. I also take Miralax and Colace every night, due to constipation from all high Protein foods and VERY LITTLE fruits/veggies.

Hide that scale! Don't give Mr. scale too much power! I weigh once a week at WW in the same clothes & my home scale is now in my garage!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
