gracensmommie 55 Posted June 5, 2013 Ok, so I'm quite sure this has been covered over and over, but honestly, I don't feel like going throug a bunch of old threads. Here's the deal. I had surgery on Monday. Came home yesterday about 2pm. I'm just continously nauseus. I'm taking the nasuea pill every 4 hours and have some kind of patch behind my ear. They just dont seem to help. I keep having episodes where I feel like I'm going to throw up, but its just spit and phlem (Sorry TMI). BUT when I do that it makes me burp and feel a little better. I'm walking a lot but that really doesn't seem to help either. I feel like I"m SO thirsty and its all that I can do to not take a huge drink of Water. PLEASE tell me this is normal and it will end soon!!
Lorraine_2013 11 Posted June 5, 2013 This is normal and it will end soon! Keep drinking and walking. Once you get all the pain meds and the anesthetic out of your body you'll feel much better. Be patient, I knows it's rough. Take some time to rest. The first few days I slept a lot, it was the only time I didn't feel sick. Congratulations and good luck on this journey to the new happy and healthy you. 1 gracensmommie reacted to this

And also, I've read that warm peppermint tea can help break up the mucus, and peppermint naturally soothes nausea. 1 gracensmommie reacted to this
DayByDay 123 Posted June 5, 2013 Are you sipping Water? I used a shot glass and sipped water from it. I tried to drink a shot glass of water every 15 min (I used a timer). They only way I was able to stay hydrated. Dehydration will make you feel very nauseous.
SeriouslyChange 319 Posted June 5, 2013 Did you get shots of blood thinner in the hospital? I would let your doctor know what's going on. Perhaps they can put you on a different pill.
JustSkinnyMeInside 89 Posted June 5, 2013 I drank ginger tea for nausea and that helped alot for me because I dont like peppermint tea. Also, keep taking small sips of Water as much as you can. Its true that after this surgery, dehydration makes you nauseated. Good luck and hang it there....things will get much better day by day.
cms213 119 Posted June 5, 2013 I couldn't keep anything down for the first two days post op and I was on all kinds of anti nausea meds including the patch behind the ear. The third day the nausea started going away and I could very slowly start to sip. I hope this is the same for you and it's starting to go away!
