Ok, so I'm quite sure this has been covered over and over, but honestly, I don't feel like going throug a bunch of old threads. Here's the deal. I had surgery on Monday. Came home yesterday about 2pm. I'm just continously nauseus. I'm taking the nasuea pill every 4 hours and have some kind of patch behind my ear. They just dont seem to help. I keep having episodes where I feel like I'm going to throw up, but its just spit and phlem (Sorry TMI). BUT when I do that it makes me burp and feel a little better. I'm walking a lot but that really doesn't seem to help either. I feel like I"m SO thirsty and its all that I can do to not take a huge drink of Water. PLEASE tell me this is normal and it will end soon!!

This is normal and it will end soon! Keep drinking and walking. Once you get all the pain meds and the anesthetic out of your body you'll feel much better. Be patient, I knows it's rough. Take some time to rest. The first few days I slept a lot, it was the only time I didn't feel sick. Congratulations and good luck on this journey to the new happy and healthy you. :)

I'm pre op, so I'm going by what I've read on this forum for the past 7 months..

Are you taking an acid reducer (PPI)? And also, I've read that warm peppermint tea can help break up the mucus, and peppermint naturally soothes nausea.

Are you sipping Water? I used a shot glass and sipped water from it. I tried to drink a shot glass of water every 15 min (I used a timer). They only way I was able to stay hydrated. Dehydration will make you feel very nauseous.

Did you get shots of blood thinner in the hospital? I would let your doctor know what's going on. Perhaps they can put you on a different pill.

I drank ginger tea for nausea and that helped alot for me because I dont like peppermint tea. Also, keep taking small sips of Water as much as you can. Its true that after this surgery, dehydration makes you nauseated. Good luck and hang it there....things will get much better day by day.

I couldn't keep anything down for the first two days post op and I was on all kinds of anti nausea meds including the patch behind the ear. The third day the nausea started going away and I could very slowly start to sip. I hope this is the same for you and it's starting to go away!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
