The vast majority of people have uneventful surgeries. I did. You will get through the next few days and in a couple of months, won't remember the discomfort except vaguely. Just stay positive and be excited about the new you coming soon! I an 4 months out and down from 257 to 202. ( that includes pre-surgery loss). I feel awesome and I am not hungry. This was the smartest thing I ever did.

I agree with SMO. I had mine Friday 5/31 and I thought the same thing Saturday and Sunday but since Monday morning it has gotten a lot better.

It will go fine! Just go in with a positive attitude... and maybe don't eat the Jello. To me, it was gross.

I had my sleeve done one week ago today. I did fine! Good luck! Walk around the hospital as soon as you feel up to it, it really does help.

I agree with the other posters, the majority of surgeries do not have complications. And when you read about them, it can get overwhelming. Best of luck to you!! Best advice I received and took was to walk around as much as as soon as you can.

Congratulations!!

The walking part is true I had surgery at 7:30 am Friday and I left the hospital at 3:30 pm on Saturday and the nurse said it was because I walked a lot.

Thank you everybody for your best wishes!!! This forum helped me keep sane and not lose my mind before the surgery. However, I honestly am surprised as to how smooth the surgery went. I was in little pain after, and was able to walk right away. I was discharged on Friday and I stopped drinking pain meds the day after the surgery. So far, no complains. I can't wait for my doctors appointment and see how much weight i've lost so far. I refuse to weight myself at home!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
